Manchester has one of the most vibrant nightlife scenes and aggressive nighttime economy campaigns in in the UK.

They also have “night mayor.”

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority wants Manchester to be “one of the best places in the world to go out, stay out, and run a business between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.”

However, in this story posted on Shorthand, Manchester Guardian writer Nicole Wootton-Cane asks, Is it all working?

In spite of the economic development focus — and on top of the pandemic — the city has been plagued by drink spiking, sexual assaults, dangerous street drugs in clubs and the absence of reliable late-night public transportation.
